The vineyards

Bordeaux and its region are famous for their wines around the world. 80% of red wines, 20% of white wines and an important part of liquor-like wines are produced there. With its 5 to 6 hectolitres of wine per year, the Bordeaux region stays at the first place in the French production though it is only the third biggest wine-making department in the country.

Places to discover and taste the products

The ideal place to learn more about wines is of course La cité du vin. In this structure, the attention of all of your five senses will be required. With its permanent tour, its belvedere and its temporary exhibitions, this architectural masterpiece is a cultural journey !

After a visit at La cité du vin, you will know everything (or at least almost) about the origins and the production of worldwide wines. You can even enjoy a glass of wine at the end of this unusual learning class, while admiring the view on Sleeping Beauty.

La cité du vin is located alongside the Garonne in Bacalan, a district a little bit far from the center. However, it has its own tramway station on tram line B, which makes it very accessible.
